Eusebio Di Francesco hopes the 4-0 win over Frosinone is “a new beginning” for Roma, but President James Pallotta “can say what he wants.”

The Giallorossi had only one victory this season, earned in stoppages at Torino, and were fresh from a shock 2-0 defeat to Bologna, a performance that Pallotta said left him “disgusted.”

Di Francesco revamped the side with a 4-2-3-1 formation, Cengiz Under proving inspirational.

“This is a new beginning for us, a new season has started,” Di Francesco told DAZN.

“We are growing and we’ve got to get back to doing what we know. It’s never easy to win in Serie A and I had asked to keep a clean sheet tonight too.

“We’ve done nothing yet, as there’s Lazio and the Derby on Saturday. This is a starting point. It was important to rediscover our confidence and prepare well.

“The President can say what he wants, as he runs the club. We hope that his next comments will be happier ones.”

Javier Pastore scored his second back-heel flick of the season.

“He doesn’t score many goals, but when he does, they tend to be real quality. I put him in the position that he loves, as trequartista behind the strikers. His presence allows me to work with two different tactical systems.”

Roma were kept in a training retreat over the last few days.

"People think it was punishment, but it wasn't. It was to help the players reunite, to rediscover that closeness and affection, because Rome is a city that can create distance between people and we needed to look each other in the eye," Di Francesco added to Sky Sport Italia.
