Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco believes “half an hour in Liverpool” stopped his side reaching the Champions League final.

The Giallorossi went out of the Champions League 7-6 on aggregate, despite a 4-2 win at the Stadio Olimpico in the second leg.

Today the Coach was presented with the Bearzot award, which is awarded in recognition of outstanding achievements by Italian tacticians.

“We wanted to reach the final in Europe” Di Francesco said as he collected his prize.

“We wanted to reach the final in Europe” Di Francesco said as he collected his prize.

“That half an hour in Liverpool took away the satisfaction of getting there. We did our best and we created an enthusiasm which still gives me goosebumps when I watch the footage back.

“I’d have liked to collect this award before going to Kiev. We had some moments of difficulty in the league, but it’s part of a growth journey.”

Di Francesco was then asked about his contract situation.

“We’ll see later, it’s the least of my worries. It’s a source of great pride to coach Roma, now I have to be good to keep my place.”
