Captain Blerim Dzemaili’s contract expires next summer, but the player has revealed he wants to end his career at Bologna.

The Swiss midfielder turns 34 in April and in June his contract at the Renato Dall’Ara will expire.

This season he has played 14 Serie A games for the Rossoblu and has scored one goal in the process, but the captain would like to stay on under Sinisa Mihajlovic.

“I would like to end my career here,” the 33-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I would like to end my career here,” the 33-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The captain said the struggles over the last six months has united the group and claimed Mihajlovic’s disease made them "realise how much we cared about each other".

“The contact we had via Skype [during the summer retreat] will remain in our minds for life,” he said. “It was July 13 and I cried. We told ourselves that he had done extraordinary things for us.

“Yes, we have stronger ties now. To go there [to the hospital] and to see him at the window, we realised how much we cared about each other.”
