The Swiss midfielder joined the Canadian franchise as a designated player in May 2017, but it was confirmed this week he’ll leave.

“Blerim asked to return to Italy, to return to Bologna, for sporting and personal reasons,” said Coach Remi Garde.

“So from there, we’ll try to find the best solution. Once a player tells me he doesn’t want to be somewhere, it’s hard for me, even if I was looking forward to working with that player.

“So you can logically conclude that he won’t be back.”

Both teams are owned by Joey Saputo, and Sky Italia reports that Dzemaili will take his medical with the Rossoblu tomorrow, before signing a two-and-a-half-year contract.
