Blerim Dzemaili says he could have continued his career in Serie A – but he didn’t take much convincing to join Galatasaray.

The Switzerland international left Napoli in the summer transfer window, despite being paired with clubs such as Milan.

“There was the possibility of remaining in Italy and a few clubs were interested,” stated the former Parma and Torino man.

“But the right offer never arrived. Then Galatasaray boss Cesare Prandelli called me and we reached an agreement in 24 hours.

“Galatasaray have an excellent squad that will give me the opportunity to play in the Champions League. I could not have asked for more.

“I’m really happy with this new adventure.”

Dzemaili has been joined in Istanbul by his Napoli teammate Goran Pandev.
