Edin Dzeko enjoyed his second career hat-trick against Viktoria Plzen, but insisted Roma “are nowhere close to our maximum potential.”

The Bosnian got three in tonight’s 5-0 Champions League victory, having already bagged a treble with this team in the 2016-17 Europa League.

“I know them well,” he grinned on Sky Sport Italia. “I have played against them in the Czech Republic before.”

Roma have been transformed since their training retreat, smashing Frosinone, Lazio and now Viktoria Plzen.

“It was good for us, as we all came together. We’re still nowhere close to our maximum potential, but the three wins in a row do give us more confidence. We all have to do more.”

Real Madrid incredibly lost 1-0 to CSKA Moscow this evening, making it a very even group.

“Every Champions League game has its difficulties. Now we have three points, but there are another four games to play. The two against CSKA Moscow are going to be extremely important for qualification.”

Dzeko dedicated the hat-trick to Roma teenager Riccardo Caldifiori, who suffered a very serious injury in today’s UEFA Youth League game.
