The former Manchester City striker score the winner for Roma against Sampdoria on Sunday. The Giallorossi sit third in the Serie A table.

“Hopefully, we can continue. Personally, and as a team,” Dzeko told DAZN.

“We are doing well, today’s game was difficult especially with the weather. I think every time we play against Samp it rains so much. We did well from the beginning until the end.

“We warmed up late, but we always kept the ball possession in the first half and we did not concede any goal chance.  We pushed more in the second half, all of us. We were aggressive and I scored the goal that brought us the three points.

“During the break I told Rick [Karsdorp] to find me close to the near post. In the first half he had put the ball behind me a few times, but his assist was great, we are happy to start the new year like this.

“Doesn’t matter who plays p front, I have a great understanding with everyone, the most important thing is to win games. We have strong players and the coach can rotate, we can do even more.”

Can Roma improve with January signings? Dzeko thinks so.

“We are halfway, the third placement gives us self-belief, but we can always improve, it’s always difficult to find good players in January but it’s not impossible. We can make it.”
