Today director of sport Monchi read out a statement ahead of Coach Eusebio Di Francesco’s Press conference, insisting that they would not “weaken the squad.”

However, he did not rule out selling the two stars, maintaining he had to “listen to all offers” that come in.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Calciomercato.it, the Giallorossi are in advanced negotiations for this double deal.

Dzeko is valued at €30m, while left-back Emerson Palmieri is worth €20m plus €5m in various bonuses.

It will take another few days of negotiations to whittle down the details, but Monday or Tuesday should see the move go through.

The delay is so that the Bosnia international can start in Sunday's Serie A showdown with Inter.

Dzeko turns 32 in March and Roma bought the Bosnian from Manchester City for just €15m in the summer of 2015, so are effectively doubling their money.

He was Capocannoniere in Serie A last season with 29 strikes, while this term he has 12 goals and four assists in 26 competitive games.

As for Emerson Palmieri, he has played only a handful of minutes this term, as he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee back in May 2017.

He was bought from Santos for just €2m, so to sell him on at €25m will be a remarkable bit of business that Roma cannot turn down.
