The Edin Dzeko saga should be concluded one way or another on Monday, as Emerson Palmieri is heading from Roma to Chelsea.

Negotiations between the two clubs have been dragging on for a week now and seem no closer to a conclusion.

While yesterday there was pessimism filtering through from England about any possible deal for Dzeko, Sky Sport Italia suddenly opened the door last night by reporting significant progress in talks.

Negotiations between the two clubs have been dragging on for a week now and seem no closer to a conclusion.

While yesterday there was pessimism filtering through from England about any possible deal for Dzeko, Sky Sport Italia suddenly opened the door last night by reporting significant progress in talks.

It’s believed Roma are asking for a little more than a combined €56m for the pair – as so far Chelsea are offering €30m for Dzeko and €20m plus €6m in bonuses for left-back Emerson Palmieri.

The significant change is that Chelsea are prepared to match Dzeko’s personal demands, including a contract to June 2020 at an increased salary.

Meanwhile, the Bosnia international is expected to start on Sunday evening in the Serie A meeting with Sampdoria.

Italian papers are suggesting there’s one very strong ally for Roma in all this and that is Dzeko’s wife Amra.

Dzeko only recently bought a house in Rome and Amra has been posting messages of adoration to the city over the last few days on Instagram, including the Colosseum with a heart over it.
