“We should’ve done better in the second half, but the important thing was to get the victory and continue our improvement,” Dzeko told Roma TV.

“After going 4-0 up, the Coach told us not to rest on our laurels or lose momentum, but we did anyway. It was a bit of a struggle in the second half.

“When it’s 4-0, you have to let the ball do the work. If you keep possession, then Sassuolo have to run around after us. We wanted to go vertical a bit too quickly and the Coach didn’t like that.

“It was a spectacular first half and we need to build on that. We also hope the second half mistakes are not repeated. We believe in the approach that the Coach has taken.”

Mkhitaryan immediately found the net after his loan move from Arsenal.

“He is a top level player. I told him, you scored twice against Bosnia for Armenia, now you need to get a goal here too! And he did. When he gets settled in, he’ll do even better.”
