La Joya had been on the verge of an exit towards Tottenham Hotspur last summer, but was determined to fight for his place in Turin.

He was proved right, as Dybala has been probably their best performer this season under Maurizio Sarri, even developing into a centre-forward.

The 26-year-old has contributed 17 goals and 13 assists in 41 competitive games this term.

His current contract is due to expire in 2022, so it will be a three-year extension with improved salary.

Above all, Dybala will become the ‘face’ of the club in their branding and advertising, with a role as the future captain of the team.
