Juventus striker Paulo Dybala will reportedly pip Inter-bound Lautaro Martinez to a place in Argentina’s World Cup squad.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Dybala met Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli in Turin, concluding with the forward learning he would be called up for the tournament in Russia.

The 24-year-old’s position had come under mounting scrutiny, with no goals in 12 caps for his country and a loss of form for Juve adding to Martinez’s emergence.

However, MD assures Sampaoli has faith in the former Palermo attacker’s ability to be a ‘star’ this summer.

Inter’s Mauro Icardi, on the other hand, is unlikely to join Dybala or Martinez at the World Cup as anticipation grows that Sergio Aguero will be fit.
