Brazil Coach Dunga assures 'Alex Sandro is a player worthy of Juventus’ with the full-back set to join from Porto.

The left-back is believed to be close to completing a transfer to the Bianconeri, for a fee of around €22m, and the Selecao boss explained to Tuttosport what the Old Lady will be getting.

“It would be a coup for the Bianconeri,” Dunga told the newspaper.

“He’s a classic Brazilian full-back, he combines great technique and speed. He’s hit a few shots reminiscent of Roberto Carlos.

“He’s a classic Brazilian full-back, he combines great technique and speed. He’s hit a few shots reminiscent of Roberto Carlos.

“I know him well, I’ve called him up in the past, although he wasn’t very well at the time. I constantly follow all players who could be called-up, and I’m continuing to monitor Alex Sandro.

“He’s grown at Porto, further improving himself after his days at Santos. He’s a typical Brazil full-back, great at getting forward to help the attack, but also good with his [defensive] positioning.

“Is he the heir to Roberto Carlos? They look alike, especially on a technical level and for the ease with which they dribble.

“Alex Sandro has something less on the physical side, however, he’s less powerful.

“Alex Sandro is a player worthy of Juventus, but I think an experience with a top Serie A club will make him even more complete.

“Competing in the Champions League with a big club like that will help him mature in terms of the national team. I’ll follow him, because I’m convinced he’s a player with huge room for improvement.

“[Juventus Coach Max] Allegri and I were teammates at Pescara 20 years ago, but he didn’t ask me for advice. He doesn’t need it, Juventus have a lot of scouts.”

Dunga was also asked about Neto, who has moved to Juventus to be Gianluigi Buffon’s understudy, but was not included in the latest Brazil squad.

“There was no rejection, and he hasn’t been downgraded because he’s playing the vice-Buffon role at Juve.

“Neto is a great goalkeeper and a great professional. If I didn’t call him, it’s because I know him well, and we want to evaluate other lads in these two friendlies [against Costa Rica and the USA].”
