Duarte was one of Milan’s summer signings, the defender being the latest in a long line of Brazilians to play for the Rossoneri after the likes of Kaka, Cafu and Thiago Silva.

“Milan have a beautiful history, they’re a great club,” he told Sport Mediaset.

“Many famous Brazilians have played here, like Kaka, Serginho, Cafu and Thiago Silva. I hope to follow in their footsteps.

“I talked to Paqueta to find out what it was like at Milan and how things worked. His answers were convincing and very positive.

“They made me even happier and more motivated to be here today.”

The 23-year-old was then asked about the differences between football in Italy and Brazil.

“Brazilian football isn’t as tactical as it is here, but I was working with Jorge Jesus, who is a European Coach with a lot of knowledge.

“He helped me a bit and now I want to improve my grasp of the language to better understand what the Coach wants.”
