Inter are reportedly looking to lower the fee for Joao Cancelo, but they could have to offer him a wage rise.

The full-back is on loan from Valencia, with an option to make the deal permanent for €35m at the end of the season.

The Portuguese international has been in fine form so far this season, and scored his first goal for the Nerazzurri last night.

As a result, the club are keen to keep him but are looking to lower the fee they’ll have to pay to Valencia.

That should be feasible, as Geoffrey Kondogbia could be offered permanently in exchange, but calciomercato.com reports parallel negotiations with Cancelo’s agent, Jorge Mendes.

Currently the 23-year-old earns around €2m per season, but given his importance to Luciano Spalletti’s side, Mendes wants to raise that.

Given that Kwadwo Asamoah is expected to join from Juventus on a salary of more than €3m per season, it’s logical to expect Cancelo would want a salary in line with that.
