Stramaccioni’s future on the bench is in doubt with reports suggesting he could be replaced if the Beneamata don’t get into the Champions League.
“Stramaccioni is blameless,” Boninsegna, who spent seven years with the club until his 1976 exit, told Radio Mana Sport. “In my opinion, he should be confirmed in his job.
“The club made mistakes in buying and selling players. Somebody needs to explain to me the sale of Giampaolo Pazzini.
“He went and that left just Diego Milito in the squad in terms of a centre-forward…
“It is true that Antonio Cassano arrived from Milan as part of the Pazzini deal, but then the Wesley Sneijder situation erupted.
“There are only two extraordinary players at Inter and they are Rodrigo Palacio and Samir Handanovic.”
Milito is out for the season after rupturing knee ligaments. Pazzini, meanwhile, has scored 13 goals in 22 games for the Rossoneri.
Inter are joint fifth in the table, seven points adrift of third, but they do have a game in hand.
