Police arrested 16 people yesterday morning accused of contributing to an alleged betting ring that tried to fix games in Serie A, Serie B and Lega Pro.

Among those under investigation is Doni, while some Orobici matches have been listed among the 18 that have raised suspicions.

"Go watch all the games and you'll realise this is a comical farce," snapped Atalanta Coach Stefano Colantuono.

"The intercepted telephone calls say nothing about the results of our games, so the promotions of Atalanta and Siena are legitimate.

"Doni's involvement is absurd. He would never hurt Atalanta. This is a comical situation."
