“Everyone expected more from Milan this season, that much is obvious,” said the Coach and former Rossoneri star in his Press conference.

“Despite the results, they do still have more quality at their disposal than most teams. It’s true they are in a difficult moment of the season, as they also lost in the Europa League, but with a much-changed line-up.

“Aside from what Milan might be at this time, we have to concentrate on ourselves and how we interpret the game. We must believe in our own capabilities and chase down every ball with determination.

“A big club like Milan will react to difficulties, especially on their home turf, and we’ve got to see it coming.”

Gattuso has been appointed to the hot-seat after Vincenzo Montella’s sacking, but despite being linked with the role for many years, Donadoni is yet to experience it.

“A change of Coach means the team is at a crossroads and they have no more alibis. Everything that happens from now on will not be the fault of the Coach, but the responsibility of the players,” argued Donadoni.

“It is important for anyone to be at the helm of big clubs, but obviously there are also difficult moments. If Walter Zenga had been asked to take over at Inter or Crotone, he would’ve chosen Inter, no offence to Crotone.”

Andrea Poli, another ex-Milan player, is suspended with Federico Di Francesco injured.

Bologna squad for Milan: Da Costa, Mirante, Ravaglia; De Maio, Gonzalez, Helander, Krafth, Maietta, Masina, M’Baye, Torosidis; Crisetig, Donsah, Nagy, Pulgar, Taider; Destro, Falletti, Krejci, Okwonkwo, Palacio, Petkovic, Verdi
