Marco Donadel insists he is “ready to give his all” for Napoli following a lacklustre 2011-12 season in which he made a single appearance.

Constant injury issues have plagued the midfielder since moving to the Partenopei from Fiorentina in June 2011, signing a four year contract for an undisclosed fee.

“I want to give my very best for the blue shirt,” asserted the 29-year-old in an interview with Radio Marte today.

“I want to take the good side of what happened to me last season, I grew up and gained experience and character and now I am ready to give back to Napoli.

“I need to prove my worth and get back to top form with good performances, and this would make me really happy.”

Donadel looks set to play a part in Coach Walter Mazzarri’s immediate plans, having featured in the convincing victory over Palermo on the opening weekend of Serie A. He was quick to compliment his teammates.

“Napoli’s midfield is highly competitive, just look at [Marek] Hamsik, [Gokhan] Inler and [Valon] Behrami who are players of international quality.

“Hamsik in particular follows instructions and sacrifices himself for the good of the entire team – he is the example for us all to follow.

“[Aurelio] De Laurentiis has built a club that can rise year after year and go that extra set to compete and fulfil the supporters’ ambitions of silverware.”

The former Milan man has strong ambitions for the upcoming campaign, including competing at the top end of Serie A and the Europa League.

“I was a step away from the Europa League Final [with Fiorentina in 2007/08], when I was wearing the purple colours and we were defeated by Rangers on penalties.

“I want that rematch in Europe, I have played there with both Milan and Fiorentina and I hope my experience can be of use to the team.”
