Napoli value the midfielder at €40m, but that price tag will drop if the former Bologna man rarely sees the field and sporting director Cristiano Guintoli is working hard to find a buyer at that fee.

The London club could be willing to listen to plans for a player exchange between Diawara and right-back Kieran Trippier, whom they value at €35m.

The 28-year-old England international has played 33 times this season and is expected to start in the Champions League semi-finals against Ajax.

Manchester United are also rumoured to be interested in the former Manchester City youth product.
