Giovanni Di Lorenzo says it is a “dream” to play at Anfield against Liverpool and that Napoli are “focused” on reaching the Champions League last 16.

Di Lorenzo was still playing Serie C football two years ago but is now preparing for a trip to Merseyside, where Napoli take on the European champions.

“It’s nice to be here, considering where I came from,” he confessed at a press conference.

“It was a difficult journey, but I’ve been reaping the fruits of so many sacrifices.

“Being here at this stadium, in this competition, is beautiful. It’s any kid’s dream, but I’m calm and tranquil. There’s so much to work to do.”

Despite all the noise surrounding the Partenopei, the 26-year-old asserted his side were “fired up” for the task at hand.

“The team are fired up for the match, it is true that in the League we haven’t been picking up so many points, but in the Champions League we’ve done well and we’re close to reaching our first objective of the season.

“We’re focused on tomorrow.”
