Former Azzurri midfielder Angelo Di Livio has hit out at Coach Cesare Prandelli’s code of ethics following his decision to leave Daniele De Rossi out of his squad.

De Rossi was withdrawn from Prandelli’s selection to face Spain after television footage showed him to have punched Mauro Icardi in the face during Saturday’s Serie A match between Roma and Inter.

“De Rossi made a mistake with what he did,” Di Livio told Radio Mana Sport. “He got wound up and then he punched someone.

“He was wrong, but Prandelli’s code of ethics is a farce.

“He only enforces it when he wants to. Mr Balotelli has done so much wrong without ever being punished.

“Why these double standards? The code of ethics needs revising.”
