Cagliari coach Eusebio Di Francesco said it was an emotional return to the Olimpico but was ‘not in a good mood’ after the 3-2 loss.

The Rossoblu coach spent two seasons at the helm of the Giallorossi, helping the club to the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2017-18.

Joao Pedro scored twice for the visitors last night, but Jordan Veretout, Edin Dzeko and Gianluca Mancini helped Roma secure three points against the Sardinians.

Di Francesco felt the Casteddu had gifted Roma the opportunity to claim all the spoils in the Italian capital.

“I’m a bit angry, because when our opponents were in difficulty, we didn’t manage to deliver the knockout blow.

“We equalised and we should have insisted. We are always here to mull over the chances given to our opponents and this obviously doesn’t put me in a good mood.

“We were dangerous in the first half too, with Simeone hitting the crossbar in the second half. Roma are a great team, the individuals were decisive.”
