Domenico Di Carlo felt Chievo ruined their chances against Roma with two early defensive errors. “We made it too easy for them.”

Stephan El Shaarawy and Edin Dzeko had the Giallorossi 2-0 up at the Bentegodi after 18 minutes, with Aleksandar Kolarov adding a third on the counter in the second half.

“I expected a different game, to be honest. We had prepared it a certain way, but cannot leave gaps like that for Roma and the first two goals changed everything,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We gave it our all, but only after going 2-0 down, which makes it too easy for Roma. We weren’t clinical enough in our finishing, we didn’t read the game well at crucial moments and continue to pay a heavy price for individual errors.

“We had two injuries in the same role, so everything went a bit wrong today. We have to analyse the game, build on the positives and prepare for Udinese.

“It’s crucial we work on the details and maintaining concentration, because we cannot afford these lapses when we’re bottom of the table.

“The team is focused during the week in training and just needs to find more faith in itself. We have to focus on ourselves and not on what the other sides are doing.”

Di Carlo gave Lucas Piazon his Serie A debut as a substitute after the loan move from Chelsea.

“I introduced him to bring some creativity to the side, but he’s been here for 10 days and hadn’t played for a while, so we cannot expect too much from him straight away.”
