Paolo Di Canio believes “goalkeepers like Gianluigi Donnarumma are born once every 50 years” and the Milan man is “touched by God.”
On Thursday Donnarumma made his senior Italy debut in the 3-1 friendly defeat to France, becoming the youngest ever shot-stopper for the Azzurri.
“He seems to intelligent and cool-headed,” Di Canio told Milan TV.

“He seems to intelligent and cool-headed,” Di Canio told Milan TV.
“He has incredible qualities. Sinisa Mihajlovic did really well to immediately throw him into the ‘grown-up’ football. He is touched by God, truly, and if he continues like this then he’ll be the natural heir to Gigi Buffon.
“Goalkeepers like Donnarumma are born once every 50 years. Milan have an iron curtain in their hands.”
Donnarumma aside, Di Canio saw other improvements in the Rossoneri so far this season.
“You can see Vincenzo Montella’s impact light years away. The team now has a more positive and attacking style of football, even if only for 20 minutes at a time, but Milan need to grow something important from that.
“No side in recent years has been able to dominate Napoli at the San Paolo the way Milan did for long periods last weekend. Of course, they need to work on their balance, as six goals conceded in two games are too many.
“I am sure Montella knows that too, as you can’t always win by scoring one more goal than the opposition. He is intelligent and you can already see his identity in Milan.”
