The striker spent last term on loan with the Rossoblu and there were talks about a possible permanent switch to Marassi.
“I had one foot out of the door in August,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “That’s because I wanted to continue the excellent work I did with Genoa last term.
“At Roma, meanwhile, there are certain hierarchies which mean I wouldn’t be able to start games.
“In the end though, destiny wanted me to stay here and I now feel like an integral part of the side.”
Borriello has appeared in six League games so far and is set to see more action now given that Francesco Totti and Gervinho are injured.
“I’m a different player to Francesco, I have less quality but I can offer the side something different,” added the forward.
The Giallorossi have made a stunning start to the season after winning eight from eight so far. “The objective is to finish in the top five,” the 31-year-old added.

Borriello also confirmed that he’s in talks about extending his contract with the outfit by spreading his current €4m net wages.
“My agent and I have been in conversations with the club – I think it will happen soon.”
