Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero is ‘pleased’ to hear Bianconeri fans begging him to return to the club.

The 2006 Italy World Cup winner returned to the Allianz Stadium for the first time in more than 10 years this past April and there have been rumours of a possible return to the club since.

However, both club sources and Del Piero himself have consistently denied that his comeback is possible at the moment. Despite that, the legendary striker admits that he likes hearing requests from Bianconeri fans who want to see him return to the club.

“It’s pleasing, it means that the journey was a nice one. Surely, it was so for me and I believe for them [the fans] as well,” he told Tuttosport newspaper.

Del Piero also paid tribute to Giampiero Boniperti who died a year ago: “I don’t know if I can say something new. The president was unique. I met him in Udine for the first time, I was still 16, and then during my first year at Juventus,” he said.

“I have a strong bond with the family, I know his sons and nephews well. His presence is missing, his personality is missing. He was enormous, a genius to some extent, as a footballer and director.”

Del Piero is convinced that the return of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku to Serie A will help the Italian league grow and become even more appealing. The Belgian striker is on the verge of returning to Inter, while Pogba will reportedly sign a four-year deal with Juventus.

“I am convinced that the return of champions such as Lukaku and Pogba will raise the quality of Serie A and the whole movement,” the former striker concluded.
