Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero sees the Champions League as “a priority” for his former club this season.

The Bianconeri have dominated domestically in recent years, winning Serie A for the past seven seasons in a row and the Coppa Italia for the last four.

However, they lost the 2015 and 2017 Champions League finals, and haven’t lifted that trophy since 1996, when Del Piero was in the team.

Cristiano Ronaldo has signed in a €100m deal from Real Madrid, and that has been widely seen as the Old Lady going all-out for European glory.

“It’s a very important signing,” Del Piero told Sky.

“The Bianconeri were already very strong and now they’ll be even more so. He’ll be able to give Juventus an edge in Europe.

“Winning the Champions League is a priority.”

Speaking from Los Angeles, Del Piero also gave his opinion on CR7’s long-time rival, Lionel Messi.

“I’d have paid just to spend one day training alongside him.”
