Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero says Gianluigi Buffon can help Italy to recover from the disappointment of missing out on the World Cup.
The goalkeeper is expected to retire at the end of the season, but his former teammate doesn’t think he should hang up the gloves just yet.
“Who can inspire Italy to get back the glory days? Buffon,” Del Piero said in an interview with the FDFC YouTube channel.

“Everybody thinks he’s going to retire, but maybe he’ll stay for a couple more years. You can see his quality at any age.
“Sometimes things like this – a disaster, because it’s a disaster for us – maybe they switch on some lights in your game.
“It’s not a problem with the players, it’s a problem regarding the coaching staff, regarding the federation… all of the football movement in Italy that has to be changed.
“We are trying, we changed the national team Coach, we changed the President of the Federation… it’s a long way, but we need to do it because the result is very, very bad.”
