Gigi Del Neri jokingly thanked “Saint Orestis Karnezis” for a series of saves in Udinese’s 3-1 victory away to Atalanta.

It was a shock result, especially because Atalanta had 73 per cent possession in the first half and were still 1-0 down.

“There was so much pressure coming forward from Atalanta in the first half and fortunately we had Saint Orestis Karnezis in goal,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“There was so much pressure coming forward from Atalanta in the first half and fortunately we had Saint Orestis Karnezis in goal,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“After the break we allowed less to the opposition and I think my team deserved the victory then. We showed great organisation and the ability to soak up pressure.”

Del Neri was given a warm reception at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.

“I did have an intense rapport with the fans during my time at Atalanta and you don’t just forget that.”
