The Brazilian youngster has been blighted by muscle-related injuries in the past two-and-a-half years and in a bid to solve the mystery behind why they keep recurring, he flew out to America last week to consult with a specialist.

With Pato back from that meeting and in the Rossonero squad to face Barcelona on Tuesday, Vice President Galliani revealed that the club are optimistic for the future.

“I’m not a doctor, but according to [Milan medic] Jean Pierre Meerssemann, who I really respect, in America they have found a definitive solution to his problems.”

This echoes Meersemann’s take on the situation over the weekend.

Galliani was speaking to reporters at Malpensa airport, awaiting Milan’s delayed flight to Barcelona to face the Catalans in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash, one that he hinted Pato could be involved in.

“Pato played in the first Barcelona game, we’ll see how he does in training tonight and then the Coach will decide.”
