Shakhtar Donetsk coach Roberto De Zerbi has refused to answer questions from Italian media about the crisis between Russia and Ukraine but has reportedly followed advice from the Italian embassy stocking up on food and water.

Vladimir Putin has ordered troops into Ukraine and said this morning that Russia’s interests are ‘not negotiable.’ The Ukraine league won’t stop and will resume next weekend after the winter break.

“For now, it’s all confirmed, we haven’t received any different order,” Agostino Tibaudi, one of Shakhtar’s fitness coaches, told Sportmediaset.

De Zerbi’s Shakhtar will return to the pitch on Saturday against Metalist in a match played at Kharkiv, close to the Russian border.

According to Calciomercato.com, De Zerbi has declined interview requests from Italian outlets to discuss the current situation in the country but has followed advice from the Italian embassy, which told compatriots in Ukraine to stock up on food and water.

De Zerbi signed a two-year deal with Shakhtar in the summer, ending a three-year spell at Sassuolo.
