The game changed just before half-time when Pedro Rodriguez was sent off for two bookable offences, but the Giallorossi created more chances when a man down anyway and both teams had goals disallowed.

“We are not playing well at the moment, we lacked quality and today we didn’t show enough desire to go and win the game, especially in the second half,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“I did say yesterday we were missing some important players and that means those who do play are increasingly tired and off form. So no, I am not at all satisfied.

“Djuricic and Boga had COVID, so they have recovered, but are not as sharp as they were. They have to keep playing and that takes its toll.”

De Zerbi was above all furious with the lack of scoring opportunities against 10 men.

“I don’t say we should just pour forward, but if we intend to remain in the top spots of the table, we have to seek victory with more determination. Regardless of the extra man, Roma deserved to win more than we did.

“The thing I keep telling my players is that you must take the responsibility, and that means risking a mistake. If you don’t risk committing a mistake, you don’t do anything. I’d rather we get it wrong and at least try.”
