Coach Roberto De Zerbi has claimed his Sassuolo ‘did better against Atalanta’, despite picking up a point in the 3-3 game against Inter on Wednesday.
Sassuolo bounced back twice to share the spoils at San Siro and the coach was happy to see his players respond but claimed Inter’s third goal was highly preventable.

Sassuolo bounced back twice to share the spoils at San Siro and the coach was happy to see his players respond but claimed Inter’s third goal was highly preventable.
“We did well to not give up the match, always keep going, believing we could achieve a positive result,” De Zerbi said at a press conference. “We could have scored more goals and some of the ones we conceded were avoidable.
“The third one for sure, when we lost our marking for the umpteenth time. I speak of a big difference between self-esteem and presumption.
“I don’t want players who are presumptuous but know they can win in Milan if they deserve it.”
The Neroverdi coach has claimed Sassuolo played a better game when they lost 4-1 to a high-flying Orobici.
“You have to ask [Inter coach Antonio] Conte if Inter suffered, in Bergamo we did better than tonight in my opinion.
“But today we drew, so we will walk about the Sassuolo match, whilst in Bergamo we conceded goals on our own.
“It’s an improvement that doesn’t depend on technical-tactical discourse, but purely mental.”
Hellas Verona are next up for Sassuolo on Sunday and the Neroverdi currently sit 12th in the League, two points behind Cagliari in the top half of Serie A.
