Italian tactician Roberto De Zerbi made a huge impact on his Premier League debut, as Brighton surged into a 2-0 lead at Anfield, then fought back for a 3-3 draw with Liverpool.

The former Benevento, Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk coach got the job over the break for international duty, replacing Graham Potter, who was poached by Chelsea.

De Zerbi had the perfect start, as Brighton and Hove Albion flew into a 2-0 lead away to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool with a Leandro Trossard brace.

The Reds fought back to turn it around and lead 3-2 thanks to Bobby Firmino’s double and a Webster own goal.

However, Trossard ensured De Zerbi did not begin his Brighton career with a defeat, completing his hat-trick late on.

It’s safe to say Klopp and Liverpool do not enjoy facing Italian coaches, as they were already beaten 4-1 by Napoli in the Champions League earlier this season.
