Sassuolo boss Roberto De Zerbi says his side “alternate between beautiful matches and major slip-ups” and that isn’t “easy” to play amidst the current Coronavirus crisis that's engulfing the country.

The Neroverdi brushed Brescia aside in tonight’s game 3-0 and De Zerbi says his side lacks consistency at the moment.

“We have many young players, but they are strong. This summer we changed a lot, about 50% of our starting XI,” De Zerbi told Sky Sport Italia

“It wasn’t easy to replace all of those that we had last season. The evolution must be trying to improve with ambition.

“We alternate between beautiful games and major slip-ups. We must always be careful, even with our position in the table.”

Jeremie Boga was particularly impressive for the Neroverdi, scoring one and hitting the post.

“Players with Boga’s potential do not allow us to set a limit in terms of ambition. We have many players like him, and setting limits would be wrong. We aren’t satisfied with anything, but we also have to keep our feet on the ground.

If I stay, I will do everything to keep the team together. Changing them and finding others of this quality is very difficult.

“I am out of contract at the end of the season, so I don’t know what will happen, we will try to push however until the end of the year.”

De Zerbi was then inevitably asked about the Coronavirus, with the game against Brescia played behind closed doors.

“It was difficult to prepare for the game, because working in football in Italy means having a responsibility.

“On a social level, football isn’t the same as other jobs. In my dressing room however there are men who are worried for their families, so to reconcile that all isn’t easy.”
