Brescia coach Diego Lopez says his side “played well until the end of the first half” as they succumbed to a 3-0 defeat to Sassuolo.

The Rondinelle now haven’t won for 11 games in the league, and Lopez equals Gianni De Biasi’s 17-year record for failing to win in his first four games on the Brescia bench.

“We played well in the first half until Francesco Caputo’s goal. After the goal we went and tried to press, but in a disjointed manner, conceding space,” Lopez told Sky Sport Italia.

“In the second half we didn’t return to the pitch and play like we did in the first, and in this league you pay for such things.

“It’s not enough to only play for one half.”

Brescia are firmly rooted to the bottom of the table, so is there a way out?

“It depends on the others in the table but also on us. We have to decide for ourselves whether we want to be the team in the first half against Sassuolo, or the team in the second.

“The same thing happened against Napoli. You must have anger to save yourself in this situation.”
