Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi has claimed it would be ‘disrespectul’ to his employer to declare himself 'ready' for the next step.

The Neroverdi coach, who arrived from Benevento in July 2018, has impressed in charge at the Mapei Stadium and his contract at Sassuolo expires after the current campaign.

De Zerbi’s men sit 11th in the League and the coach insists he is only thinking about concluding the unfinished season.

De Zerbi’s men sit 11th in the League and the coach insists he is only thinking about concluding the unfinished season.

“It’s a tricky question, because if I answer that I’m ready, I will disrespect Sassuolo,” he told TMW Radio. “I must be grateful to them.

“If I say the opposite, it seems like I’m not ready. You can never define yourself ready or not. In football there’s results and many variables involved.

“However, now I already have a lot to think about, given the many commitments, you risk errors already with three substitutes, with five, I can’t get away from them.”
