Mattia De Sciglio acknowledges Juventus “allowed Tottenham too much of the pitch and were too far away to counter.”

The Bianconeri were 2-0 up within 10 minutes, but ended up with just 33 per cent possession in the 2-2 draw with Spurs.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult game, as Tottenham are a great team,” De Sciglio told Mediaset Premium.

“They might be a little loose at the back, but from the midfield up they are very talented.

“After we went 2-0 up, we got too deep and allowed Tottenham too much of the pitch. They advanced so much that we were then too far away to go on the counter-attack.

“Unfortunately, that’s what can happen in a Champions League Round of 16. It’s disappointing, as we had an important advantage, but there’s still the second leg.

“There will certainly be difficulties in Wembley, but we want to build on the opening 10 minutes we saw today.”
