The Azzurri won their Euro 2016 group with a game to spare, and comfortably eliminated Spain on Monday, setting up a Quarter-Final clash with Jogi Löw’s side.

“It’s a cliché to say that they’re all finals,” De Sciglio acknowledged in today’s edition of La Repubblica.

“But from Belgium on we’ve prepared for every game as if it were a one-off, it’s that approach which has made the difference.

“We’re facing the world champions, but that doesn’t mean anything: now that we’ve made it to the Quarters, why shouldn’t we believe?

“We dominated against Belgium and Spain, so it’s right to think that we can do it against Germany too on Saturday.”

De Sciglio received a lot of criticism for his Milan performances this season, but has been a standout in France.

“All I know is the sacrifice and effort I’ve made to get back to the top. This is a small reward for what I went through, but I don’t feel satisfied.

“I feel the confidence of [CT Antonio] Conte and the squad. We’re great together, no-one is feeling the strain of this long commitment.”
