Mattia De Sciglio foresees and hopes his future is in a Milan shirt, as he reflects on the morale boost the weekend’s derby win was.

The young full-back attended an event this week and took questions, including on light speculation surrounding his future and if it would be away from San Siro.

That speculation was prompted last month by the defender’s own assertion that if the club need to sell him, he would consider offers from elsewhere.

The young full-back attended an event this week and took questions, including on light speculation surrounding his future and if it would be away from San Siro.

That speculation was prompted last month by the defender’s own assertion that if the club need to sell him, he would consider offers from elsewhere.

“Will I stay at Milan? I simply said that my intention is to stay at Milan, this is the club in which I have grown up and I am happy,” De Sciglio responded to Milannews.

“I wish and hope to wear this shirt for many years, but unfortunately in football you never know, anything can happen.

“I think towards a present and a future with the Milan shirt.”

The 21-year-old considered Milan’s weekend win over Inter, which has left their Europa League qualification hopes alive heading into the final two rounds of Serie A.

“It’s nice to be in the midst of the fans after a very important victory in the derby. We are in a nice climate, the win has given us moral for these last two games.

“The Europa League? We are aiming for that and will try to do well.

“Did Seedorf motivate us heading into the derby? In a match so important, the motivations come from everywhere.

“There was no need for words, you had to think only of the value of the game, which for us was the most important game of the season.

“The success has given us moral, we are happy also because we had not done this in three years, it was my first derby win and I am even happier.”
