The midfielder was speaking to Rai Sport after the 3-0 victory over Northern Ireland, which ended the Euro 2012 qualifiers with eight wins and two draws.
“We have done well, all of us, above all the staff for doing the difficult job of bringing back enthusiasm to the group. There was the risk of losing something after the battering we got in South Africa.
“It could well be an advantage for us, as we saw in the World Cup that we were in an easy group and finished last. We'll take whatever comes.
“There is stress, but I always have been eager to come on international duty. I have a lot of fun here and although there might be a moment of envy for those who rest during the week, that's where it ends. We play for Italy and will never try to hold back looking at the fixture list.”
De Rossi was also asked about Roma, as the derby is coming up on Sunday and his contract talks have hit problems.
“I do feel the derby very strongly. It's true that in the past, when I was young, I didn't sleep the night before and as a result never had a good performance. I am calmer now.
“Regardless of what happens with my contract and my future, the most important thing is the future of Roma.
“Who knows, they might save the money from my contract and spend it on improving the squad. I see good things moving in the club and that bodes well for the future of the Giallorossi.”
His current deal expires at the end of the season, so he could leave on a free transfer.
