New Roma coach Daniele De Rossi reveals he didn’t even negotiate his contract at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 2006 Italy World Cup winner replaced José Mourinho on Tuesday, signing a contract until the end of the season.

He held a pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of his debut against Hellas Verona at the Stadio Olimpico.

DDR revealed that he didn’t even negotiate his salary with club owners when he was offered the chance to coach his childhood club.

“The Friedkins were clear in terms of contract duration. I said, ‘Okay, it’s fine; just put a figure on and a Champions League bonus.’ It was due given what I represent here and the opportunity I’ve been given,” he said.

“The contract is six months long, so I’ll try to play my cards right. I’ve only asked to be treated like a coach, not like a Bandiera. They know I will fight to stay here until the end, and I think they are happy with this.”

  1. I don’t think Roma can go any further in UEL & Serie A under DDR. Friedkins shoulda hired Ventura or Giamlpaolo. Or bring back DiFransesco. Very sure under one of those, Roma may win UEL & secure CL spot 2024/2025.
