The Roma midfielder limped off during the 2-0 defeat to Spain and only returned to full training yesterday afternoon.

According to the latest reports, De Rossi trained separately from the rest of the squad this morning.

That means he won’t be fit for the starting XI and at most can make a spot on the bench.

Stefano Sturaro is expected to start instead, as Thiago Motta is suspended with Antonio Candreva injured.

It remains to be seen whether Sturaro will take the playmaker role in midfield or Marco Parolo.

Germany are widely expected to field an unchanged XI from the side that crushed Slovakia 3-0 in the Round of 16,

They have never beaten the Azzurri in a major tournament, earning four draws and four defeats.

Meanwhile, it is confirmed that Italy will wear their classic blue kit with white shorts, while Germany play in white with black shorts.

There are reports Italy want to wear black armbands after several of their citizens were killed in a terror attack on a bar in Bangladesh last night.

It’s believed 20 were killed in the capital Dhaka, most of them Italian or Japanese nationals.
