However, Il Romanista claims CT Roberto Mancini will call up the former Roma captain for October’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Greece and Liechtenstein.

The qualifier with Greece stands out as the Azzurri can book their place in the Finals with victory, while it will be played at De Rossi’s old home of the Olimpico.

It could also see him face former Roma teammate Kostas Manolas.

The 35-year-old has 117 caps for La Nazionale, scoring 21 goals and winning the World Cup in 2006.

He joined Boca over the summer but missed their last game against San Lorenzo with a thigh strain.
