Former Netherlands boss Danny Blind has advised Juventus target Matthijs de Ligt to stay at Ajax, suggesting he is not ‘truly ready for a move abroad’.
Tuttosport reported on Wednesday that Juve were pushing to bring in De Ligt, holding ‘regular’ talks with his agent Mino Raiola, but Blind urged the 19-year-old not to rush his development.
“Giving De Ligt his international debut wasn’t a complicated decision, also because we had several defenders injured,” the ex-Ajax stopper told Tuttosport.
“Even though he was only 17 at time, you could see he was a prospect so his growth isn’t surprising.
“The fact that now, at 19, he’s also the captain of Ajax shows his character. He’s strong and a complete centre-back, but he’s still young.
“I’d like him to leave Amsterdam only when he feels truly ready for a move abroad.”
