Fabio Capello has revealed he’s not sure if Matthijs de Ligt is injured but has urged to “give him time” to adapt at Juventus.

De Ligt was again left out of Maurizio Sarri’s first XI against Cagliari on Monday and the club has claimed the player is not feeling well.

The former Juventus coach has supported the Dutch youngster to adapt but hints about the Bianconeri only protecting their €85m signing by claiming he is injured.

De Ligt was again left out of Maurizio Sarri’s first XI against Cagliari on Monday and the club has claimed the player is not feeling well.

The former Juventus coach has supported the Dutch youngster to adapt but hints about the Bianconeri only protecting their €85m signing by claiming he is injured.

“They say so, but…,” Capello told Sky Sport Italia. “We must give him time to understand the new system and the new mentality.

“[Former hero Michel] Platini spent six months at Juventus.”

Two other summer signings who have struggled to make an impact in Turin were back in the line-up against the Rossoblu.

Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot contributed to a thumping 4-0 win at the Allianz Stadium, with the latter playing the full 90 minutes.

“They are two great players, but they aren’t in top condition just yet,” Capello added. “Rabiot hasn’t played in six months, he’s very tall and needs time to get in shape.”
