President Aurelio De Laurentiis hints that Napoli could make zero transfers this summer. ‘We’ve only got a few days and innumerable problems to talk about.’

The club has not made any major signings or sales over the summer, despite changing coach from Gennaro Gattuso to Luciano Spalletti.

There are also huge question marks over captain Lorenzo Insigne, whose contract at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona is due to expire in June 2022.

“I have to go and meet Spalletti, because tomorrow I return to Rome and we have to talk about innumerable problems,” commented De Laurentiis during a financial convention.

“The transfer market is open, both for selling and signing players. We’ve only got a few days, then who is there will stay, who is not there isn’t, and from September we go to the end.”

The Partenopei have been targeting Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri, Inter midfielder Matias Vecino and others, while Kalidou Koulibaly remains an option for Paris Saint-Germain.

Spalletti has said that he would be very happy to remain with the squad at his disposal, joking he’d chain himself to the railings in order to avoid Koulibaly’s sale.
