Andrea Belotti is closer to a new contract agreement with Torino, claim Sky Sport Italia, but significant problems still remain on the release clause.

The striker’s current deal only runs to the end of the current campaign, so the race is on to either extend or make the sale to avoid losing him to a free transfer.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, there has been significant progress in negotiations today.

That is an increase of his salary to €3.3m per season, which Il Gallo would seem happy with.

The main sticking point now is the release clause, as it’s claimed Belotti would like it to be a more affordable €20-25m.

On the other hand, Toro are hoping to set it at a minimum of €40m.

His current contract has a release clause worth €100m, but it is valid only for clubs outside of Italy.

Belotti has been linked with both Atalanta and Roma, depending on the other transfer moves that open up spaces in their squads.

  1. For goodness sake he should leave Torino and go to Atalanta and play in at the highest level the CL, before he’s to old,
he will go backwards fast if he stays.
    Shame A.C. cannot afford him.

  2. Atalanta it must be, otherwise it’s a talent wasted. He could have been a world class player if he moved on couple of years ago. I like Torino, but it’s seriously mismanaged club. Losing most of the games during the season don’t improve player as much as winning.
