Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis reiterates Gonzalo Higuain’s €94m price – “not many teams can pay that”.

The striker has been linked with Juventus and Arsenal this summer, but neither side wants to pay  his release clause and the Partenopei won’t sell him for less.

“Higuain will not go to Juve,” De Laurentiis said on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“In fact it’s not even right for Higuain to go to an Italian club. Gonzalo has two more years on his contract, if no-one comes up with the amount equal to his release clause he’ll stay at Napoli.

“There aren’t many teams who can pay that amount. Then we’ll see if Higuain will betray the love that he swore to Neapolitans.

“At the moment, since he hasn’t spoken, this situation is just a sea of chatter. Gonzalo will arrive at Dimaro on July 25.”

As reported earlier today, De Laurentiis also confirmed that a deal for Davide Santon has fallen-through.

“For me he doesn’t have the characteristics to verify him for the way we wanted to use him. He’s a great professional and a great player, but we’re exploring other avenues now, also in midfield.”
